»But we had a lot of beautiful remembering, Palma! We could meet us secretly in Venice and you picked me up with your Gondola nearly every evening from my 2nd flat at the »Le Zitelle«… Wasn’t that beautiful…?«

And they continued to see their Peony-Gondola-Visions in the 16th century like that:

* * *

As Palma ended his Mandolin solo standing on the bridge »Ponte de la Pieta« at the big Promenade, all Venetian people, poor and rich, old and young applauded saying »Bravi, bravi!!!«. A lot of women smiled to Palma il Giovane and he smiled friendly and decently back, but his heart was only with Palmina, his secret deep music-love.

And one Chinese Women asked Palma il Giovane:
»You played so beautiful on your Mandoline…. Was it a love song?« she asked innocently and shy. Her hairs where made in the traditional Chinese style and she wear very beautiful traditional Chinese / Asian cloths.

»Oh, thank you! Yes… you are a musician?«, Palma asked.
»Yes, I live on Giudecca Island with my family. You are Palma il Giovane…! I and my family have seen you there very often, giving our Chinese princess painting lessons…isn’t it… Shì bu shì?«

»Ahh, you are from the Chinese Delegation, living in the secret gardens on Giudecca Island…?«, Palma realized very fast and put his painting utensils slovly back into a case.
Palma often could try the Asian music instruments there to learn how they are played and he tried to compose for them…

»Can I have some painting lessons…?«, the beautiful lady said.
She looked very shy and was smiling like a little Chinese princess, beautiful and innocent, but also very clever.
»I can explain you my Pipa…«, she said enthusiastic and her eyes began to shine very friendly.

»Oh, you are a Pipa playing musician….like, like Palmina Albina… who is music teacher on Giudecca Island for the Le Zitelle Girls Orchestra…«

»Oh, yes, I play Pipa….Palmina, she is very talented and played the lutes very beautiful. We all know her…«, the Chinese Woman said.

»Yes, I will give you some painting lessons the next time when I am having my paintings lessons with my students there…I am looking forward also to paint you, if you like…?«

* * *

Later as Palma finished his painting lessons on Giudecca island at the secret gardens it was evening and he was always thinking on his Palmina.

»Hm, should I visit her today and pick her up for a secret walk on the island Giorgio Maggiore?«, Palma thought and in this moment he felt a warm energy around his heart.
The Golden light from heart-to-heart was back – Yes he felt it also in the moment as he played his Mandolin solo for her on the bridge.

»Yes, we can see us today at 23 o’clock for a little walk with our lanterns on Giudecca island«, Palma il Giovane heart her answering deep in his heart.
It was for him like Palmina answered to him, communication without words, from ‚heart-to-heart‘.

Palmina went again to her window in the 3rd floor, looking outside to the waters of Venice, looking to the direction of San Marco Place a little bit right, straight a head.
But in her heart she was with Palma il Giovane.
And Palma could feel it.
Always they had to think on each other, at night and at day.

Yes, she could feel: Palma will come today with his Gondola and pick her up. So strong is their heart-to-heart connection.

Palma took the short way to pick Palmina for a short walk on island Giorgio Maggiore (left side). And in this moment a Gondola with a lot on bright lanterns came.

It is her Palma il Giovane!

How lucky she was. Palma did not forget her!

Palmina took her music score, her lutes, the Venetian and the other one and ran very fast down to the little promenade on Giudecca island. Palma waited smiling in his Gondola for her.

She looked carefully if some one is watching them.
»No one here…«, she said and went fast like a shy little bird to enter Palma’s Gondola.
As she was inside they closed the curtains so that no one could see who is now in this Gondola.

Palma smiled and was lucky to see her at this Peony Gondola hour. His face and her face was surrounded by the golden light of the lanterns inside of the Gondola.

Palmina started to play soft on her Lute and Palma was lucky to hear her playing a little concert only for him.

The Gondola moved slowly direct to the island Giorgio Maggiore which was direct nearby the island Giudecca.

Normally Palma took the shortest way through the little door-bow (see picture 1) to reach the island but on evenings like this one, his heart was full of inspiration and he wanted to be with her a little bit longer in the Gondola, so he gave orders to move the Gondola around the south-end of the Island (see picture 5 ).

Palmina realized this and started to play a few other music pieces. She variates some melodies that Palma composed for her in the last months.

Palma smiled, he loved her variation style. No one is talented like her to do this.

And after they reached the south part of this little island they left the Gondola and took some lantern with them to see their way.

But today the moon was shining very bright and they see their way very good.

Now they walked very romantic along the several ways on Giorgio Maggiore at the gardens and the beautiful park, full of plants and flowers, trees with sleeping pigeons and birds.

Later they sat on a bank directly looking over the lagoon water in the south direction.

»Look the moon and the stars. How fine the view is to see them..,«, Palmina said and played on her Pipa-Lute also a Moon-light river variation.

Palma explained her a few stars, which are shining very bright on the evening sky. Palmina was very proud that Palma knows so much about the planets and the evening stars.

»Do you know that up there a crater-region on the moon is called »Marco Polo«¹…?«, Palma asked whispering tender and soft in her ear.«

»Wooo, Palmina… I did not know this… My painter, my astronomer, my composer…my secret love story writer…«, whispering soft into his ear.
After a while of silence Palma put his arm around her and she smiled in this soft moon-light.

»Can you play my ‚Marco Polo Love Song?’«, Palma asked shy.

»Yes, you composed it for me as the Delegation made a cultural exchange concert in the Dogan’s Palace. Hach, Palma…Marco Polo Love Song…describing the love between the famous Marco Polo from Venice and the Chinese Princess, which was a Buddhist nun…Hach and he brought her back to Venice to Giudecca Island with 600 people from the West-Lake…and,and maybe, they met secretly every evening like we both here on the island Giorgio Maggiore to speak and to make music…Our souls are like them…«, Palmina said whispering and friendly

And Palmina took her music instrument and started to play on her Pipa-Lute for him under this beautiful Romanic moon-shine, under the now suddenly brighter shining Stars of Venice, here in the south-end of the little island Giorgio Maggiore and all the sleeping Pigeons in the trees of the park are listening to them.

* * *

During they saw this beautiful remembering in their Peony Gondola, Palmina asked Palma: »Palma? Did the little Chinese Princess from the Secret Gardens on Giudecca Island inspire you to compose this song…? Did she awake the Marco Polo in you…? Maybe she opened the remembering on us 400 years ago…?«

Palmina looked shy and smiled and Palma smiled also very shy.

»Did you teach her European painting styles technique?.. Did you paint her? Is she beautiful?«

And Palmina’s eyes looked like an innocent deer and Palma kissed her cheeks tender and soft and smiled.

And now Palma spoke with his heart to her heart and in their Peony Gondola dream Palma started to play on his Mandolin and he played also on an instrument which was invented and developed by Johann Sebastian Bach and Gottfried Silbermann² in the 18th century.

Yes, in the Peony Gondola Palma could play the Mandolin AND the Piano in the same moment only with his thought and his love for his Pigeon.

And Palma and Palmina listened to this music:

² Gottfried Silbermann – Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gottfried_Silbermann

»Gottfried Silbermann (January 14, 1683 – August 4, 1753) was a German builder of keyboard instruments. He built harpsichords, clavichords, organs, and fortepianos; his modern reputation rests mainly on the latter two.«

Silbermann and Bach

»The 18th-century musician Johann Friedrich Agricola tells a story about the relationship of Silbermann, Johann Sebastian Bach, and pianos. After Silbermann had completed two instruments, Agricola says, he showed them to Bach, who replied critically, saying that the tone was weak in the treble and the keys were hard to play even though the tone was pleasant. Silbermann was stung and angered by the criticism, but ultimately took it to heart and was able to improve his pianos (exactly how is not known, but it may have been the result of Silbermann’s encountering Cristofori’s most mature instruments). The improved Silbermann pianos met with Bach’s „complete approval“ („völlige Gutheißung“), and indeed a preserved sales voucher dated May 8, 1749 shows that Bach acted as an intermediary for Silbermann in the sale of one of his pianos. Bach also changed his mind about Silbermann’s organs as well, as borne out by the fact that he was asked by both the church and Silbermann to give the inaugural concert of his new instrument on 1 December 1736 for the Frauenkirche Dresden.«
