296. Bach, Vivaldi and the the Orphan Girls Orchestra in Venice

296. Bach, Vivaldi and the the Orphan Girls Orchestra in Venice

And after they saw this Peony Gondola Vision Palma said to his Pigeon:

»Palmina, the little sweet bird in the morning said to me that you performed my composition LAKE yesterday! Did you, Palmina…?
I felt in my heart that you played for me…«

Palmina smiled and was happy that Palma could feel her music secret surprise.

He took her hands and kissed her talented hands tender and thankfully.
Palmina’s eyes shined and she felt that Palma wants to heal her hands.
Palma il Giovane could feel in the last days that she had pains on her hands because she prepared hard for this concert.

And during these days he could also feel her tender cheek kisses as he slept and he could feel it in his dreams.

And after that Palmina smiled and hugged Palma and gave him a sweet tender kiss on his cheek – in their Peony Gondola hour at 23 p.m. During this they suddenly continued to see the Peony Gondola vision with Bach in Venice in the 18th century:

✮ ✮ ✮

01 picture – San Marco Place in Venice

They saw the stars over Venice at the evening sky and they saw this evening Master Johann Sebastian Bach alone with his wife in a huge Gondola.
After the brilliant concert at the ‚Ospedale de la Pieta Girls Orchestra‘ with Vivaldi’s »Gloria« they are all (Bach, his family, Vivaldi and his girls orchestra) invited together with the girls at Giudecca island at a Chinese family, which came once in the 16th century and are living there.
They know a lot of stories about Marco Polo and his Asian Princess and of course a lot of stories about Palmina and Palma. And they are interested in Asian music instruments and of course asian tea.

On their way to Giudecca Island Bach said to his wife: »Maestro Vivaldi’s Girls Orchestra and Choir are brilliant. Should we move to Asia or to Venice, hmm? If I could have such brilliant musicians for my compositions, Anna Magdalena…? This would be a miracle!«, Bach said a little bit sad.

»Yes, this would be a miracle.
Hmmm, but a miracle happened, dear Johann Sebastian…
It happened:
Vivaldis orphan music school girls performed with padre Maestro Vivaldi all your missa brevis¹):

the missa brevis G-Major,
the missa brevis in g-minor,
the missa brevis in F-Major and
the mystic missa brevis in A-Major with Flauto traverso *)

Ach, so beautiful compositions, Johann Sebastian.«, Anna Magdalena said with a sigh in her voice.

They heard the La Pieta Girls Choir and orchestra singing Bach’s composition in a vision and they saw Vivaldi conducting in Venice and it was like this:
*) VIDEO: [music score] (5min) Bach, missa brevis, Mass in A major – Kyrie (Herreweghe) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-Bqgw9Z4S8

»Yes, this was a miracle. Initially I composed this short missa brevis for Franz Anton von Sporck ²) and his ‚Sporck theatre‘. Like a miracle my compositions came in the hands of Antonio Vivaldi in Venice…«, Johann Sebastian said smiling and he put his strong huge arm around his little Anna Magdalena Bach smiling.

»Yes, Johann Sebastian, padre Maestro Vivaldi had good connections to Franz Anton von Sporck and he met him several times as his La Pieta Girls Orchestra gave concerts there in Prague…«, Anna said proud.

»Yes, they performed my compositions in Prague and Venice, yes a miracle…
Thank you Santa Lucia !!! Tomorrow we have to visit the chiesa of Santa Lucia also to visit the Santa-Lucia-paintings of Palma il Giovane there«, he said and searched his Mandolin.

✮ ✮ ✮

02 picture - Gondolas moving to Giudecca Island.jpg

02 picture – Gondolas moving to Giudecca Island

All the Gondola’s are now moving at this evening to Giudecca Island with Bach, Vivaldi and the whole talented girls from the La Pieta Orphan shelter music school Orchestra.
They are all invited to the old Chinese Families to a Tea ceremony concert in their big gardens in Venice to hear the Yin-Yang-Chinese-Garden-Orchestra. And all are looking forward to have this Asian Tea and to hear the original Asian Music Instruments.

* * *

And after they saw this Peony Gondola Vision:

Palmina smiled and Palma knew which music piece will be performed at this Chinese concert.

Palma smiled secretly and shy.

»Palma?

Hm, why are you smiling so shy? Palmaaaa? Hmm? «

And they saw the Asian Trigram on the heaven and the heaven was pink with white clouds:

☱ – LAKE- DUI – THE JOYOUS

Now a voice said in ancient old Chinese language style:

» 說萬物者莫說乎澤 –
Of all that forces that GIVE JOY things,
there is no more gladdening than the LAKE ☱ «

»Oh, Palma!«

»Oh, Palmina!«

»Pi-«

»-Pa«

and now they made both a round mouth, moved them to each other mouths
and said together:
»Liu – to – kiss«

And then they kissed sweet and short and smiled.

»Apart from the 1733 Missa in B minor for the Dresden court (later incorporated in the Mass in B minor), Johann Sebastian Bach wrote four further Kyrie–Gloria Masses, BWV 233–236. These compositions, consisting of the first two sections of the Mass ordinary (i.e. the Kyrie and the Gloria), have been indicated as Missae breves (Latin for „short masses“) or Lutheran Masses. They seem to have been intended for liturgical use, considering a performance time of about 20 minutes each, the average duration of a Bach cantata. They may have been composed around 1738/39.[1] Possibly they were written for Count Franz Anton von Sporck² or performed by him in Lysá.«

²) Franz Anton von Sporck – Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Anton_von_Sporck

»Franz Anton von Sporck, Count (Franz Anton Reichsgraf von Sporck in German, František Antonín hrabě Špork in Czech) (born 9 March 1662 in Lysá nad Labem or Heřmanův Městec; died 30 March 1738 in Lysá nad Labem) was a German-speaking literatus and patron of the arts who lived in the province of Bohemia in what is now the Czech Republic. He was one of the most notable cultural and intellectual figures in central Europe in the early 18th century. «

»…attracting some of the most prominent singers in Italy to Prague, and used Antonio Vivaldi as a source of repertory and singers. VIVALDI himself visited Prague in the early 1730s as a result of his connections with the Sporck theater. 290. Bach plays – Palma remembers

vivaldisvenicettl

And after they saw this Peony Vision Palmina said:

»Oh this is so interesting, Palma. Let us see if they have the original music score of your composition for orphan children after hundred years… this is a long time period!!!«
And they saw this:

✮ ✮ ✮

And later after the meal Antonio Vivaldi and Johann Sebastian Bach with his daughters went all in the library of the Ospedale de la Pieta and Maestro Vivaldi and his talented musician girls showed all their music instruments and all the ancient music score they have.

»Look, Maestro Bach«, said a girl and deep in her heart she wished to be Johann Sebastian Bach’s adoptive daughter, »… here in our Ospedale de la Pieta we have 21 Violins, 4 Cellos, 2 marine trumpets, six small violas (ideal for our girls orchestra) two viola d’amore, two mandolines, two lutes, one theorbo, four hunting horns with accessories, two psalteries with harmonic box, two cymbals, three flutes, two big cymbals with spinets, six spinets…«. The little girl was very excited to be allowed to explain Master Johann Sebastian Bach their music instruments.

»Six spinets…hm…. very, very good….
You have a good music school.«
The girl jumped a little bit full of joy and played with her hairs and smiled.

Bach said to Master Vivaldi: »…In Germany we have not this equipment at my school and it is not a music school…«, Bach said and he sat down to a spinet and stated to play one of the six. Antonio Vivaldi listened interested and observed the polyphonic independence of Bach’s creations and was fascinated.
The girls made big wide open eyes and mouth as they heard how Bach played the Spinett and he modulated through all the »Quint-Circle«¹ with its 24 modi.

______________________

¹ »Quint-Circle« – Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circle_of_fifths

»CIRCLE OF FIFTHS
In music theory, the circle of fifths (or circle of fourths) is the relationship among the 12 tones of the chromatic scale, their corresponding key signatures, and the associated major and minor keys. More specifically, it is a geometrical representation of relationships among the 12 pitch classes of the chromatic scale in pitch class space. «

² „Well tempered piano“ – Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Well-Tempered_Clavier

»The Well-Tempered Clavier, BWV 846–893, is a collection of two sets of preludes and fugues in all 24 major and minor keys, composed for solo keyboard by Johann Sebastian Bach. In Bach’s time Clavier (keyboard) was a generic name indicating a variety of keyboard instruments, most typically a harpsichord or clavichord – but not excluding an organ either. «

____________________________

All listened and did not move or say any word as long as Bach played.

Anna Magdalena Bach could understand him also Antonio Vivaldi: Bach invented the „Well tempered piano“² which will be used in the future of all musicians.

»Look, there they have the music-social, music pedagogic composition of Palma il Giovane the ‚Missa Ospedale de la Pieta in Venice in G-Magor‘!!!!«, Catharina Dorothea, Bach’s eldest daughter said very happy and she jumped a little bit like a young girl.
And all the orphan girls came to see this music score in their library.
»Woooh, let me see, let me see, a composition for us from Palma il Giovane the famous painter and Master Scholar of Master Titian!!!!«

And the nuns came to see what happens here in the big library of the Ospedale de la Pieta.

And they opened their mouth like looking to a miracle as they realized that the music score interests the famous Johann Sebastian Bach.

Later the girls played a welcom concert for Bach and they played the „Gloria“ by Antonio Vivaldi and it was like that:

VIDEO (28min) Gloria, Vivaldi, at la Pieta (BBC) – https://youtu.be/cgaOVV4JQHA

✮ ✮ ✮

As Palma and Palmina saw this Peony Gondola Vision suddenly Palma had a strong real remembering about their time in the 16th century and Palmina could feel it:

Often Palmina played during Palma painted on an important painting for 40 minutes at once and then she made a break with her lute. And during this break Palma had to go to the Organ in that church, where he was painting, and had to play 40 minutes for her and she listened very interested if Palma makes a progress in his music polyphonic creativity.
She was like the Saint Cecilia who helps him from the world of the body, the material, to come to the world of immaterial, the world of inspiration in art and music.
And it seemed that Palma il Giovane was inspired by her friendly listening to his music creations.
Always if he looks in her direction Palmina smiled back to him and Palma smiled.

And this they made very often and during several years as long Palma painted on huge painting in a church.

Later they made this in the Ospedaletto at the Crociferi and later also at the San Antonin Church near Palmina’s bakery shop where her home was. (There he painted during the whole year in that church and finished the paintings in the year 1593)

Palmina put again her head on Palma’s side and was happy about this intensive rememberings of the 16th century and she lifted a little lantern and smiled.

»Daddy, you are very famous here in Venice…«, Johanna Carolina said and was proud that these famous musicians from Venice wanted to have a signature on their music score by Johann Sebastian Bach.

And after a long while the girls run back to the ‚Ospedale la Pieta‘ – their shelter where the girls without parents having their home in Venice. Antonio Vivaldi stayed and sat down to the table where the Bach family was sitting.

»Want you have a meal with us? Let us talk about the last 35 years…«

»Yes, good Idea. … Oh, please also a Spaghetti Pomodore a la Marco Polo, please, Signorina..«, Antonio Vivaldi said to the young waiter girl.

»Fa bene, Maestro Antonio Vivaldi, Spaghetti Pomodore a la Marco Polo…«, the waiter girl answered.

Johann Sebastian and Antonio Vivaldi spoke now the whole time about their last 35 years and what changed in their life in Venice and in Germany.

»Here in Venice, here in this bakery shop house lived once the famous lute playing Palmina Albina,
who inspired Jacopo Palma il Giovane to his famous paintings and a lot of compositions…«

Bach smiled and nodded knowing this story.

»Was she not also music teacher here once?«, Anna Magdalena Bach asked Antonio Vivaldi.

* * *

And as Palmina and Palma saw this Peony Vision Palmina put her head on Palma’s side and smiled lucky.

»The musicians are speaking about you, Palmina. Even after over hundred years they know that you made concerts with that brilliant girls Orchestra.«, Palma said proud and put his arm around her and Palmina could feel it.
And Palmina also felt Palma’s big love in this moment, in this Peony Gondola hour, at this 23 p.m. o’clock, which is surrounding her like thousands of Peony Roses.

Palmina smiled and said looking up to his head.
»Oh, Palma. That the world is not forgetting me as musician it is your love who made this possible……We had good concerts at the Ospedale de la Pieta…«

»I know, Palmina. And if we are back to our 16th century we will continue to do these concerts, will you?«

»Oh, yes, Palma, my Palma, yes, i will…«

And they continued to see the Peony Gondola Vision and they saw this:

* * *

Now all around the table were very silent as if everyone thinks about the story of Palma and Palmina of the 16th century.

»After a while Antonio Vivaldi said: »You can come and visit our Ospedale de la Pieta. We have a music archive there, a very good and great music library. There are also compositions of Palma il Giovane. We have the original version of the ‚Missa Ospedale de la Pieta‘ he composed for our Orphan children.«

»Oh, Daddy, let us visit the Ospedale over there. They have a lot of music instruments¹ and music score. Oh please, Johann Sebastian Bach«, Johanna Carolina said.

Lisghen and Dorothea smiled looking interested to each other.

And the music was like this:

VIDEO: (Violin and Piano 52 a,b,c,d,e – 10 min) – https://youtu.be/c2Ae8sPT7jY

And Palmina saw again the soft flight along the Planet Mars and the moments at the Mars library and they had a lot of Music Visions during this music.

* * *

»Oh, this is interesting! To see what happened with the music and culture live in Venice hundred years after our century, Palma?«

»Yes, really, but we have to be silent and not to talk about what we have seen to any body, you know…«

»I tell no one, Palma…«

»This morning I got a bird message from you Palmina? Did you…?«

»Yes, Palma I sent you a massage, but the extremists, this intrigant people, erased it after I send it. So I asked the birds to bring you my message in bird language…«

»Thank you for your bird message… So lovely. The birds say also that the message you sent was erased and you have been not happy about that, isn’t it, Palmina?«

»Yes, my Palma il Giovane. I am so lucky that we have our Peony Gondola. Thanks to the HEAVEN!«

And Palma and Palmina hugged each other short but tender and both could feel it and both smiled.

»Let us see what happened to the ‚Ospedale de La Pieta Orphan Music School and Orphan Girl’s Orchestra in Venice over hundred years after you have been music teacher there and let us see if they remember my composition which I wrote once for them, the ‚Missa Ospedale de La Pieta di Venice«

»Oh, yes, Palma ‚Missa Ospedale de La Pieta di Venice‘ is composed in G – Magior!!! – This music we performed together with the Orphan’s Girls there in Venice.

✮ ✮ ✮

And now they continued to dream their Peony Gondola Vision and they saw this:

At the place Campo Bandiera e Moro the windows opened suddenly.
»Maestro Bach? Johann Sebastian Bach is here in Venice?“, the people on the place who are looking out of the windows said and where surprised and greeted very happy.

„What a big honour!“, someone said.

„Johann Sebastian Bach in Venezia. Benvegno Maestro Bach!!!“

Antonio Vivaldi said to a little girl: »…Alora, Palmina, subito, subito…come over here…Fast, say to the other girls: they should come back to greet Maestro Johann Sebastian Bach with music – He is back in Venice!!!!…Fast, call them back!!….«.

And the beautiful young girls came after a while, shy laughing, running back the ‚Calle de la Pieta‘ , with their music instruments and formed a little group like a choir at the place »Bandiera e Moro« standing before Bach.

Antonio Vivaldi said: »Come, my angels, now we sing the ‚Welcome Cantata‘ for Maestro Johann Sebastian Bach!«.

»Oooooh, the famous Johann Sebastian Bach with his wife and 3 daughters…« the girls whispered with big open mouth and eyes.

And padre Maestro Antonio Vivaldi raised his hands like as sever choir master and as he saw that all his little girls (and the elder girls also) were ready to sing he gave the signal to start to sing the ‚Welcome Cantata‘ for Johann Sebastian Bach.

And they sung really like angels and Bach smiled and his family beside him – Anna Magdalena, Dorothea, Elisabeth, Johanna Carolina – at the table smiled also lucky and inside their hearts they were a little bit proud about their composer Johann Sebastian.

Especially Johanna Carolina looked very interested how Vivaldi is conducting his girls choir. Yes, she knows now: She wants to learn as fast as she can all in musics: playing instruments, her lute, the violin, and a lot of instruments, composing, making variations about a melody, and so on…

»I want also be a female musician like them. I want to learn everything from my Daddy…«, Johanna Carolina thought secretly.

»Aren’t they like angels? Much better then our boys choir in Leipzig? This clear soft female voices…
»Men should only sing Tenor and Bass and girls should sing Soprano and Alto.«, Bach thought in this moment.

Antonio Vivaldi realized as first musician in Europe that the voices of girls are more exact than the voices of little boys like – also in Leipzig – and they can sing longer, more years than the boys. If the boys are turning slowly to be a man their voice is changing for a long time and is turning to a lower level of pitch and they can not sing Soprano and Alto in the choir any more.

»I can understand why the Austrian People want to hear his choir in Vienna…they are brilliant!
… I have to give Vivaldi a Cantata from me, perhaps they are performing it…« Johann Sebastian whispered to his wife Anna Magdalena Bach.
»Perhaps the ‚Coffee Cantate‘ about our daughter Lieschen (Elisabeth) which wanted to marry her future husband Altnikol.«, Anna Magdalena whispered to him funny smiling.

And after they sung very good for Master Johann Sebastian Bach they said »Welcome Maestro Bach to Venice!!« and they made a respectful gesture and smiled.

»Maestro Bach! Oh, please give us an auto-graph here on our music score!!!«

»Oh, please for me also and, and for my little sister…she loves your compositions so much!
We have no parents and padre Vivaldi is like a father for us…
Now we had the honour to sing for you…
Please sign us an autograph on the music score here…
as remembering for that historic moment in Venice…« an elder girl, which was grown like a young women, said.

»…Yes, here also for me…«,

And the girls wanted to have all a signature, as autograph from the famous Johann Sebastian Bach and forgot that they are all hungry after the long rehearsal in the church Chiesa San Giovanni in Bragora¹).

287. The Peony Gondola does not move

✮ 287. The Peony Gondola does not move ✮

And after they spoke about this composition tradition Palmina took the complete music score, they heard suddenly this music:

VIDEO: (Violin and Piano (52c) https://youtu.be/d54fOdc9qbw

»Oh, a new creation Palma. I sounds like a style of music from, from….in a few centuries. I love your creations so much!«, said Palmina smiling with shining eyes.
Now she smiled a little bit like Marco Polo’s deep love.

The Peony Gondola moved fast but soft back to the library on Planet Mars.

After they landed they looked around the ancient street and Palma said: »It seems that the Peony Gondola landed here but it is not moving any more. What shall we do?«

»Palma, can you repair the Peony Gondola…?«

Palma went out of the Gondola and walked around the big Gondola to inspect it if there is any damage.

»There is no damage, Palmina. It only does not move any more…«, Palma said like a Master.
After a while he entered the Peony Gondola and sat beside his Pigeon.

»Palma?«, Palmina asked like a little innocent Pigeon.
»Hmm?«
»Can we return to our 16th century in Venice with our Peony Gondola?«
»Yes, Palmina, but the Peony Gondola will bring us to Venice, if it is the right moment.
It seems that the Peony Gondola will tell us that we have to learn, to understand something before we go back into our beloved Venice.

✮ ✮ ✮

Suddenly the Peony Gondola moved fast to Venice in the 18th century.

»Woooh«, sung Palmina like being very happy and she tries to have a hold on her Palma il Giovane.
Palma was also surprised about this fast travel to Venice and made a round mouth.
»But, Palmina…«
»Wooooh, we are driving back to Venice, Palma we can continue our old deep love…«

»…Yes, Palmina, but.. look!.. the People who are wearing other clothes and look this is a later century…«

»A later century in Venice? How much years later…?«
The Gondola landed in Venice along the big Promenade and now they saw this:

✮ ✮ ✮

picture - »Campo Bandiera e Moro« in Venice.png

picture – »Campo Bandiera e Moro« in Venice

They saw the famous composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)¹, sitting at the place »Campo Bandiera e Moro« in Venice at the old bakery shop where Palmina’s home is (was – we are over hundred years later) and where she lived, worked as baker’s daughter and famous music teacher who played as young girls the Lute, here in that bakery shop.

»I am hungry, Anna.«, Johann Sebastian said like a big hungry bear.

»Well, let’s order something to eat here at this place…a Pizza or Marco Polo Nudles, how are they called here Spa-, spa-ge-etti«

»Oh yes, Sebastian let’s eat something, we are hungry!…«, little Johanna Carolina said.

And during they ordered something to eat from their table Johann Sebastian observed on the other side of that big place that a group of young girls with beautiful cloth and music instruments came out of the church where Palma’s Uncle once painted a very traditional painting there.

»At today’s rehearsal you played my composition very, very good. I am looking forward to the concert at our San Marco Cathedral. I am proud of you, my girls ,my famous orphan girls orchestra of Venice:

The ‚La Pieta Girls Orchestra‘ of Venice!

From all over the world the people come to Venice to listen our Orchestra!…«

»Padre Vivaldi! It is not only our orchestra…
IT IS BECAUSE OF YOUR GOOD COMPOSITIONS!
Your music the people like to hear all over the world!
This year we will get an Invitation to play in Vienna in Austria at the famous and beautiful Saint Karl’s Cathedral…«

»Is this right, padre Vivaldi…? We make a concert tour to Vienna at the Saint Carl’s Church in Austria?«, an elder girl asked excited.

»Wooho…this are good news!!!!«, a little girl said and jumped in air like a little bird.

»Yes, yes my little spiritual daughters! It is right we are making a concert in Vienna…
Now fast go back to the ‚Ospedale de la Pieta‘ to get the midday lunch. We should not let the cooks wait…you know this sever women will shout with us if we are too late. It is only a few meters to go along the ‚Calle de La Pieta’… Fast, fast, my girls…«

And the girls made »Hooray!!!« and run with their instruments across the place »Campo Bandiera e Moro« and run along the »Calle de la Pieta« where once Palmina had her window over her little garden in the 16th century, over hundred years ago.

* * *

As Palmina saw her old flat in Venice she said to Palma: »Look, my room where I do normally do rehearsal!«

»How often I stood there and played my Mandolin for you, my Palmina. How often you played a music answer from your little window and it was like a little cheek kiss to get this music answer from you…«

She smiled and gave Palma a short cheek-kiss and Palma could feel it and smiled.
He took his Viola da braccio and plucked: c – g – d‘ – a‘

And Palmina answered on her lute: A – D – E – a.

Both smiled.

And they continued to see the Peony Gondola Vision:

* * *

Johann Sebastian Bach ¹) looked at this scene with the girls on the place and his eyes followed the girls which run beside his table.

»Antonio Vivaldi ²)? Maestro Antonio Vivaldi?«, Johann Sebastian said and stood up from his chair.

»Johann Sebastian? Maestro Johann Sebastian Bach from Leipzig in Germany?…
…You, You are in Venice after nearly 35 years?
… Benvegno di Venezia !!!
Benvenuto a Venezia !!! …
Welcome to Venice…«, Antonio Vivaldi said.

Ospedale de la Pieta (music school for orphan girls) – Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ospedale_della_Piet%C3%A0

»The Ospedale della Pietà was a convent, orphanage, and music school in Venice. Like other Venetian ospedali, the Pietà was first established as a hospice for the needy. A group of Venetian nuns, called the Consorelle di Santa Maria dell’Umiltà, established this charitable institution for orphans and abandoned girls in the fourteenth century. By the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries the Pietà – along with the three other charitable Ospedali Grandi – was well known for its all-female musical ensembles that attracted tourists and patrons from around Europe. «

»The composer Antonio Vivaldi was appointed a violin teacher in 1703 and served in various roles through 1715, and again from 1723 to 1740. Much of Vivaldi’s sacred vocal and instrumental music was written for performance at the Pietà. The conservatory of the Pietà hospital was the only hospital to remain active until approximately 1830. All the other hospitals completely closed their musical activity during the first years of the nineteenth century. From an instrument inventory[3] dated 1790 we learn that during that year the Pietà hospital had still “four violins with used bows, four cellos, seventeen violins, two marine trumpets [this may in fact refer to violino in tromba marina], six small violas, two viola d’amore, two mandolines, two lutes, one theorbo, four hunting horns with accessories, two psalteries with harmonic box, two cymbals, three flutes, two big cymbals with spinets, six spinets. «

* * *

Palma could feel her positive thoughts and she hold his right hand and Palma could feel it. At 23 o’clock at this day he smiled and Palmina thought also on her composer, her painter and writer.

Now both smiled and started to dream this Peony Gondola Vision and they saw  this:

* * *

Palmina was suddenly 121 years in the future in Arnstadt. She was in the church beside the place at the bakers shop. She wanted to pray a little bit and suddenly she saw how the workers are constructing the new organ in Arnstadt. They lifted a big Organ pipe up to the Organ Gallery.  Palmina opened her mouth and was surprised about the big size of this Prospect Organ Pipe.

She looked up to the organ gallery and it was like that:

Palmina made a long sigh and thought: „Who will once play this huge music instrument. Our Organ of Arnstadt?
Who will be the man? Will he have big hands and big feets? Will he be only a instrumentalist or will he be also a composer?“
Palmina was thinking and continued to ask herself:“Will he compose something for my lute? Will he compose a Capriccio for my harpsicord and for my lute? Will I inspire him to compose..? Maybe he feels inspired to compose a Preludium and an additional Violinpart which can be sung by my Sopran voice?… Maybe he will compose the world’s famous Ave Maria in history?
Oh I can feel that there are creative moments coming with this new Organ…Oh I pray for best and creative moments… and even I can inspire him as little yellow canary bird I would sing for him“.

Palmina looked back again up to the organ gallery and smiled.

Now she went back to her home and started to rehearsal on her lute and her harpsichord. Later through her open window the people of Arnstadt could hear a beautiful Sopran voice singing some sweet little songs.

picture – Bach gets the letter from the king

And after that music they continued to see their Peony Gondola Vision and it was like that:

* * *

»Really, Daddy, you composed the Praeludium [BWV 846] for her and she played it on her Lute the first time?«

»Oh, Dorothea! Oh Elisabeth! My daughters! Yes, she inspired me a lot of years. We had a good music friendship. I am so thankful to her. Without her I would not be a composer today. Yes, I wrote to this an additional part. I can play it here in Venice and show you…later, later, my daughters…«
And Anna Magdalena Bach said: »Hmm, we have to thank her. Without her and your decision to compose for her and to be a real composer you would never get the high qualification to be over 30 years later the king’s composer. What a high honour you reached 1736…«

»Yes, 1736. In this year I got the letter from the king…«, Johann Sebastian said and looked around the place as if he is knowing this place.

»…we waited 3 years for this important letter…«, Dorothea said proud.

»and no one dared to steal the letter from the king to the famous composer Johann Sebastian. «, Elisabeth said also proud.

»Oh, don’t say it to loud. I want to be incognito here in Venice. As my colleague G.F. Händel was here in Venice they asked him to give a concert in the historic rooms of Palma il Giovane’s flat….«

It was very nice to sit in front of the old bakers shop where once Palmina lived and worked and played on her lute of 150 years ago. She played here on her lute for the famous painter and musician Palma il Giovane.
»I remember very good«, Ann Magdalena said and they drunk their tea at the place »Campo Bandiera a Moro«
»…I gave a big Organ Concert at the famous Silbermann-Organ in Dresden at the Frauenkirche. This to say THANK YOU to the KING for the big honour to be his composer after I got the official letter from the king.«, Bach said whispering to his women.

* * *

And after that Vision Palma and Palmina saw the Peony Gondola Vision of Bach’s life in the year 1736.

At this moment Bach gets the letter from the King.
From that moment Bach was the official composer of the King and they heard also Bach playing the official „Thank you Concert in Dresden“ and it was like that:

246. Bach’s first secret Inspiration in Arnstadt

246. Bach’s first secret Inspiration in Arnstadt

And they continued to dream their Peony Gondola dream and they saw this vision:

* * *

After 5 weeks a young handsome 18 year old man now stepped in this bakery shop beside the church (Today the Johann Sebatian Bach Church) in Arnstadt and wanted to buy some bread. The bakers daughter was 21 year old, 3 years elder then this man.
Although she did not know that he is the famous Johann Sebastian Bach she was nevertheless very lucky smiling and very friendly as she saw him the first time.
»I take this…and….please I take this little bread, and….could I have this nice little fine fresh breads over there….«
»Of course Sir…«, she said very lucky because he was interested in her new Italian creation.
»…Is this a special creation, this fine bread?«
»Oh, yes, it is a special old baker’s creation from Venice…It was invented by the secret love of the famous painter Palma il Giovane, the Master scholar of Master Titian. She played lute like me…her name was Palmina Albina…«
Johann Sebastian stopped moving as he took the fine white fresh bread in his hands and she was also holding also the same piece with her hands and she smiled. Now he looked up to see her face and to see her eyes, so he realized that she
wear a yellow white traditional cloth.
»Oh, you are a musician! You play the lute…?«, he asked.
»Yes, I studied all the old masters from the 16th century till now and I can play the harpsichord. My mother has one at home…and, and, and I sing Soprano very well..«, she said like an innocent little girl although she was 21 years old.
»5 Weeks ago a great musician played on our new organ as opening concert. He
played so wonderfully. I felt in love but I had never seen him again.«
Johann Sebastian Bach smiled and looked for a long while into her direction. Yes, they are completely alone in this moment, in this little fine bakery shop at Arnstadt beside the church where Bach played.
»Can I have a fresh coffee?«, the young famous organ virtuosi said.
»Of course, sir, please, take a seat over there on the little table I will cook for you fresh coffee«.
Johann Sebastian sat down to the table and felt very inspired.
Inside his heart he heart a storm of music and sound. At this moment something changed inside his heart. Till today Bach wanted only to be a famous Violinist, a famous Organist and a famous harpsichord player.
But now he hears music in his heart and now in this moment he would like to compose a little piece for lute maybe a „Praeludium in C-Major“.
Johann Sebastian Bach understood: Palmina did not only do her Job as baker to make traditional bread every day, SHE CREATED A NEW CREATION: The little fine white fresh breads in Venice – which are known also today in the 18th century at Arnstadt.

This is like a musician not only playing music, but is also making own creation as music compositions.

Johann Sebastian Bach is inspired: »I have to create also an own composition like
the creative bakers daughter…«.
During she cooked smiling the coffee and prepared it so nice Bach felt „at home“,
now sitting here. He took a piece of paper and started to write a piece which is known in the future as „Praeludium in C-Major“ of the „Well tempered piano – part I“.
But in its version for lute. (Bach wrote later several versions about this praeludium in the future).
The bakers daughter stopped working as she saw that his handsome man is now writing his first composition in his life. Yes, this moment is the beginning of over thousands of compositions he will write in the future.

246 Praeludium in C BWV 846

picture – manuscript of Bach’s Praeludium in C- Major, BWV 846

The bakers daughter understood and could feel „SHE is the women who made Johann Sebastian a composer“, she is his Saint Cecilia and she is his inspiration.
Now she brought him the fresh coffee in a nice can and smiled as she saw how fast Bach wrote on his music sheet and that he wrote „Praeludium“ and he wrote „Lute“ on it. She got red on her innocent cheeks and she felt now that she is not a little girl any more.
A mystic warm energy came from heart to heart between him and her.

Bach smiled and the bakers daughter smiled.

245. Bach’s first secret love in Arnstadt

245. Bach’s first secret love in Arnstadt

And they continued to dream their Peony Gondola dream:

* * *

This year 1581 was a very important year for the life of Palma and Palmina.
It was on the one hand a good year but it was also a year of big decision.

* * *

At the next morning Palma and Palmina read in the newspaper:

»A big burning incident happened in Arnstadt city in Germany. Nearly the whole city was destroyed and burned. Also the Organ was completely destroyed. It will take decades to reconstruct the city and a new organ there…«, Palma said to Palmina.

»Oh, the poor people of Arnstadt…«, Palmina said.
* * *

Suddenly the Peony Gondola showed them a talk between Mozart and his talented piano playing and composing Sister Nannerl:.

»…and this really happpened? Bach was in Venice secretly with his wife and with 2 of his 4 daughters?«

»Yes, Nannerl, I know this from one of his daughters. Our family has a very good friendship to the Bach family. You remember, I learned from a Bach son, they call him the London Bach. And, and,…the daughter of Bach said if we have financial problems we should write them and the Bach daughters will collect money so that they can send money to us to help us…«

»Oh, really,«, Nannerl Mozart said, »they are really good friends, good musician friends…We all love the Bach-family«.

»So a Bach daughter told me this secret story about Bach. – Nannerl, Natschi, Tschini Fibi! – Listen:…«

And Mozart gave Nannerl a tender kiss on her talented hands and on her cheeks and he begun the secret story and it was like that:
* * *

As Bach explained to his daughter Elisabeth that the well-known famous painter Palma il Giovane had his big family flat in the 2nd floor left beside the Astronomic Clock on the San Marco Place, the Bach family all went to have a fine walk along the big promenade along the „Riva degli Schiavoni“ in the south direction.

After a long walk they went in a left street which led them to the »Campo Bandiera e Moro«, a big place.

picture 01 view from the big place at Palmina's bakery shop »Campo Bandiera e Moro« in Venice.png
picture 01 view from the big place at Palmina’s bakery shop »Campo Bandiera e Moro« in Venice

At the »Calle de la pieta« they sat down to a little bakery cafe to have a rest.

Daughter Elisabeth gave the little cage with the yellow canary bird on the table and little ‚Pipsy‘ started suddenly to make: »Peep, peep, peep!«.

»What’s with you, Pipsy, why are you so excited…?«

Bach looked around and looked to the bakery shop, and looked again at the place.

»Anna Magdalena«, which was 15 years younger then his husband Johann Sebastian, felt that something is going on in his heart but she did not ask, maybe he has an inspiration.

„This bakery shop, this big place…this looks also…this remembers me…oh, my old remembering…my first…she was my first….yes, the lute playing bakers daughter…“

Bach seemed to be excited. Never his daughter had seen him so emotionally looking around in his whole live.

picture 02 Venice at Palminas bakery shop.png

picture 02 Venice at Palminas bakery shop

»Daddy, what’s wrong with you…you have been here on that place..? You have remembering…remembering on this bakery shop with a lute playing baker’s daughter…«

Anna Magdalena remembered in this moment that Bach was strongly inspired to compose a lot of Lute music piece and it is e secret why this instrument really inspired him so much.

»Peep, Peep, Peep«, made the little yellow canary bird and Bach understood his beloved yellow canary bird. The bird seems to tell him all his remembering.

»Oh, It is a very emotional remembering.

picture 03 Arnstadt-Schlossmuseum-Baeckerei-mon-plaisir-18-Jhr-1983

As I was 18 years old, you know as I was officially playing the first time on the Organ in Arnstadt…hmmmm. I remember very good, this sunny day, it was the…13th of July in the year 1703…what a day…want you really hear this story???

…it was my first love…«

»Oh, Daddy how Romantic, tell us we want to know…Daddy’s first love with 18 years.«

»Peep, peep, peep…«, made Pipsy and jumped excited agreeing in his little wooden cage around.

Anna Magdalena did not know this episode of Bach’s early live. She smiled shy and was interested to hear about that.

picture 04 Bach Praeludium in C-Magior.jpg

picture 04 Bach Praeludium in C-Magior

»Yes, In Arnstadt…yes, she was my first love and she brought me to be a composer. She inspired me to compose the Capriccio, I later dedicated also to to my brother, but it was composed for her and the Preludium in C-major…and piece for Organ ‚Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern‘ – because she was the morning star on my horizon shining for me… and,…ok, I tell you…«

And Bach begun to tell the story, sitting at the Campo Bandiera e Moro in Venice at the baker’s shop at the ‚Calle de la Pieta‘.

For a moment he had tears in his eyes and Anna Magdalena realized it and put his hand on his right arm.

»Yes, but without her I would never decide to be a composer I would never meet your mum later as composer and we would never get married and you, my little daughters would not now be here with us here in Venice…“

* * *

And Bach started to tell the little love-story and it was like that:

picture 05 Arnstadt - Johann Sebastian Bach Church.png

picture 05 Arnstadt – Johann Sebastian Bach Church

On the 13th of July in the year 1703 Bach was invited to test the new Organ in Arnstadt. The Church was full of people and they wanted all to listen how the new organ of Johann Friedrich Wender was sounding.
The people had to wait a long period since the city burned in the year 1581.

The place was full of people. All the people wanted to listen and to see the new organ of the church.

picture 06 left view to the historic bakers shop.png
picture 06 left view to the historic bakers shop

A young bakers daughter from a shop direct on the left side of the entrance came out of her shop as she listened Bach’s organ playing.

She opened her mouth like to hear a miracle.

Yes, she stopped her work in her shop. But she could not see me.

picture 07 Bach-Organ in the Johann Sebastian Bach Church.png
picture 07 Bach-Organ in the Johann Sebastian Bach Church

First she only listened Bach without seeing how he looks like.
A big familiar feeling went through her heart. She was sure she knows him. Yes, he is an old soul and their souls are friends, deep music loving friends.

»Hach, why this talented musician is only testing our new Organ? Why he comes not and played always for us…?«, The mother of the baker’s daughter said.
She heard the organ also playing and stood now beside her daughter.
The baker’s daughter wanted to hide her fascination for Bach’s Organ playing, but mother realized very fast and smiled understanding.

picture 08 Entrance of Bach Church in Arnstadt.png

After the concert the people of Arnstadt where fascinated and applaud not only for the quality of the sound of the organ also for the way the compositions Johann Sebastian played.

The people said »We have to ask him to stay in our city to be our Organ playing musician…he is the best musician and best organ expert…«

– »Congratulation, such a good organ and such a good performance…«
»Great, great, we want more concerts from Mr.Bach«

And as Bach left the church he was surrounded by the people of Arnstadt like a shooting star.

The baker’s daughter wanted to see how Johann Sebastian is looking like, but she could not see him, so much people are outside at the place around the church.

»If he would come in our bakery shop? This amazing Organ playing star?«, the bakers daughter said to her mother and again her mother understood and smiled.

»He played so wonderful the Organ like Apollo. We could even hear his concert outside here on the street.

Let us pray that the heaven decides to lead his way to us, mother…«
And again mother smiled silent and understood.

* * *

After they saw this Peony Gondola Vision Palmina put her head on Palma’s side and they heart suddenly a music like that:

After they read the newspaper standing on the San Marco Place a lot of pigeon had landed around them and looked up to them as if they did understand the newspaper.
Now the pigeons flew to the Gondola which was waiting for them at the other end of the San Marco Place.

Both went there and Palmina and Palma entered a Gondola .Palma helped her to enter the Gondola and smiled.

Palmina smiled and said: »Palma, I am so proud on you. Cardinale Borromaeus will visit our „Le Zitelle Orchestra“ on Giudecca and the „Cantico delle Creature“ will be performed, and, and your painting will be presented at the Chiesa Il Redentore.

And Palma and Palmina looked sideways to the island Giudecca and smiled.
Soon the big traditional ‚Il Redentore festival‘ will start here in Venice.

Palmina put her hand on Palma’s hand very tender and Palma could feel it.
Now he looked at her beautiful smiling face. He realised how much he loves her and the sun made her hairs beautiful.

Slowly the Gondola moved to the other side in the direction of Giudecca Island.
They will have a few hours of rehearsal for the concert today at evening.
The innocent girls came all with their music instruments and also the girls and children choir was there.
As they saw Palma and Palmina coming to the Le Zitelle they waved all from their windows.

„Look, Palma and Palmina are coming to make a rehearsal with us. Let us take all our music instruments and come at the concert stage in the garden.

And all the girls and children came in the Le Zitelle Garden to sit at their place on the stage to be ready to make a rehearsal of Palma’s Hymnus.
