At this eternal Peony Gondola Hour at 23 o’clock Palmina was lucky to hear that music from Palma“s heart.

After this music vision Palmina raised her head, smiled and said now with her soft innocent voice:
„Oh, Palma, my composer! You made me so happy with your 4 Strings variation…“
Palma smiled and answered „Oh, my Pigeon my inspiration, even if we would live on two different places, we would be connected with the help of our Peony Gondola.“
„Yes, Palma, we would think on each other every day, every moment.“, Palmina said with a big smile.

„Can you remember the years between 1578 and 1580 or so…you have been several times in Cyprus Island and wanted to write a letter to me?…“

„Yes, Palma, how could I forget this…“

And now they saw this Peony Gondola Vision:

* * *

Palmina sat on her little table on her little window, her music instruments beside her, and looked out of her little window over her little garden.

She saw a bird flying from tree to tree.
„Oh, I want to write a letter or message to my Jacopo Palma il Giovane, I love him so much…“

And she started to write a nice, beautiful letter to Palma. After she did this she moved her head a little bit left and a little bit right to proof if it is written good and nice.

She wrote:“

Cyprus Island, 15..
Dear beloved Palma!

Today I thought all the day how I can send you a message.
There is no secure way to a message from my island since the island was taken 1572, and the Christian Church had been destroyed from the „holy war worrier“.

Today in the north over 300 citizens had been attaked and killed, over 500 citizens are injured at the north part of the island.
I think the island will be divided in a north and a south part in the future.
I am living in the south-west part and there is no war here and no terror but they are stealing our letters.
Palma, during my concert tour here I suddenly found out that my father, who left mother for an other women, started secret business relations with the enemies of our republic of Venice. Isn’t it terrible?
I am not sure, but I feel that the dark sugar earth social network administrators have secret business relation to the Vatican State. The people here say a mighty cardinale will be arrested soon.
But to write a secure letter it is not possible, also here in the south west part of my island.
We all feel isolated here if we get not soon HELP FROM EUROPE.
Palma, I want to communicate with you.
Why we can not get rid of the letter stealing dark sugar earth organisation?
Communication should be a basic right!
I visited the historic place of my ancient relatives from the 14th century. How beautiful Master Titian painted the relative of my mother…
Here is a copy of the painting and it is also very good.
My beloved Palma, I want to tell you that I am planing to play some compositions from you, especially your „Loredan Mass in G-Major“ for Choir and Orchestra.
I found a nice Choir Master and he wants to perform parts of your composition from you, here on my Island here.
I remember as you composed the first movement on your Mandolin solo, standing under my little window in the „Calle de la Pieta“ in Venice to express your inspiration and love to me.
Oh, Palma, I want to come back to Venice. I think the Vatican-business-friends from the north are reading my letter and controlling my private contacts.
We have to see us today again in our secret Peony Gondola to make music over a big distance, to speak with each other over a big distance and to hug over a big distance.

Hope you will get my message.
Il tell this message as music message to my birds in my garden.
Their communication system is more secure and faster than the human mail system.

With much love
Your you deeply loving
Palmina Albina“

And Palmina took her music instrument and started to play wonderfully.

The little colorful bird landed on her window and wanted to listen to her music message. Palmina transformed her music message into a beautiful melody.
The other birds on the trees looked interested and stopped to sing just to hear Palmina.
After Palmina ended the bird flew lucky away, made a little round in the air and flew to another bird far away.
Then the bird sung Palmina’s melody and the other bird listened.
Later this other bird flew lucky away and flew far, far away to another bird over the sea and landed at another bird and sung the Melody.
Yes, and also this bird brought the secret music message for Palma to another bird, and so on…
After a few days a bird landed at Palma’s window in Venice, the city of love and art, and tweeted friendly and lucky.
Palma stood up from his new drawing he was in that moment creating.
He smiled and understood.
Very heartfelt and exactly he is listening to the sweet music love message from his Pigeon Palmina.
Palma understood every word of her letter and thanked to the little Pigeon, who brought the message from Cyprus Island.

* * *

As they saw this Peony Gondola Vision Palma said with a sigh in his voice:

„Yes, this was a miracle, I suddenly understood the bird language, Palmina, I love you…“,

„… the message as secret music from the birds: This was a funny idea, Palma.“

And suddenly they saw a new Peony Gondola Vision in another century:

* * *

„You may not speak with Pamina now…“ a priest voice said.

Suddenly they saw the famous composer Mozart sitting beside his sweet sister Nannerl on their family piano.

Mozart took the beautiful talented hands of Nannerl and kissed them tender and said:
„Natschi, Tschini fibi!
… Nannerl, how do you love my creation „The magic flute“, hmmmmmmmm? “

And he kissed her cheeks fast, hoping she likes it.

Nannerl, was shy and smiled:“ Oh, Amadeus. I love it very much…the music but, why the prince can not speak with his deep tender love Pamina at the beginning?“

„Oh, Yes, my inspiration, my sweet yellow canary bird. The Prince and Pamina are not allowed to speak with each other because they should learn to communicate from heart to heart without words.
But, one thing is allowed for them:
To make music during the time of spiritual growing and spiritual development – the time of silence.“

Nannerl said : “ But, Pamina loves him and she wants to talk with him. The prince can not explain her that this time of silence is only a short time…so he composes for her little music pieces on his instrument…“

Mozart said fast:“ …they are going to be a spiritual pair and they are having a spiritual marriage at the end of my opera!“

„A spiritual marriage? Woooo, like Saint Cecilia made it once? Like the saint of music did it…?“, Nannerl said beeing very lucky and inspired,
„But, they made music for each other during the time of silence, to feel each other inside their hearts, to learn to love each other outside the body., inside their hearts and dreams.“

Palma and Palmina’s first performance with Lute and Viola was a big success and Emperor Rudolf II liked also all the beautiful painting artwork of Palma il Giovane. He ordered a few artworks from Palma for Prague. (The economic relations to Venice – Bohemian Glas – are again very good now.)
He was also interested to order a Chinese Lute Pipa for his instrumental collection in Prague – Princess Lin will make it possible that a new Pipa instrument will brought from China to Prague.
And: He wanted also to hear a concert from the talented inspiring Lute-player Palmina. The early cultural-evening went well in the Gallery…

(02 picture – Here Palma ordered a big Gondola to wait for his Palmina )

Palma ordered a big Gondola near the Art-Gallery to wait for her.

The way from the entrance of the Art Gallery to the Gondola along the »Campo S. Provolo« and along the »Fondamenta de l’Osmarin« was decorated with Peony Flowers on the left side and on the right side of the floor.

On each side on the decorated way stood a lot of little lanterns. Each lantern symbolizes a lantern from Palmina which she brought to him: Once Palmina came with a lantern to pick up Palma il Giovane at the evening of a church where he painted till the darkness came and he could not see enough to paint and he felt asleep.
Palmina saved always his life with that, avoiding falling down from his dangerous painting-scaffoldings. (Palmina is Palma’s Personal Angel)

»This lanterns shine now for your way, Palmina…as thank you remembering how often you came and brought me light with your lanterns and heartfelt Lute playing during my hard painting working in the church and at a lot of palazzos here in Venice and at the Dogan’s Palace… «, he said to her as he lead her holding her hand.
Palmina smiled and followed him his »Peony flowers way«, especially made for her. A way full of Peony-Music-Flowers and shining lanterns. A Way of Love and tenderness. A way of CREATIVITY and INSPIRATION.
Palmina looked very lucky on each Peony flower on their way. She looked on each lantern on their common way to the waiting Gondola.
All guests of the Art-Gallery seemed to know what now will happen in Venice: The big music surprise for Palmina.
The choir singers and the 30 Gondoliers prepared themselves waiting on the place where the music surprise will happen.

A lot of people, most artists and painters, students of the Venice-Art-Gallery and students of Palma il Giovane came slowly together at this early evening, which was not dark. The sky was strong blue and full of evening lights and little pink clouds.
Palmina followed step-by step the way Palma showed her with the flowers and lanterns.

The very young**) composer Claudio Monteverdi *) saw how Palmina followed smiling and wordless her Master Palma il Giovane.

»This inspires me….So beautiful…this idea of Master Palma il Giovane!… I have to compose once a big artwork, which will change the music history in the future. I will call it ‚Eurydice‘ or maybe ‚L’Orfeo‘ ***), let’s see…
I am so proud to be now a member of this big Venice-Titian-Art-Gallery! It is a big honour for an artist…I want once to be a choir master of the Saint Marco Cathedral of Venice, if I am grown as composer….
…Let’s learn from this great masters and artists of Venice…
…Let’s learn from Palma and Palmina…«, Claudio Monteverdi thought silently smiling.

Claudio Monteverdi (1567 – 1643) – Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudio_Monteverdi

»Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi (15 May 1567 (baptized) – 29 November 1643) was an Italian composer, string player and choirmaster. A composer of both secular and sacred music, and a pioneer in the development of opera, he is considered a crucial transitional figure between the Renaissance and the Baroque periods of music history.«

**) »[…] Monteverdi’s early musical training, or evidence that (as is sometimes claimed) he was a member of the Cathedral choir […]. Monteverdi’s first published work, a set of motets, Sacrae cantiunculae (Sacred Songs) for three voices, was issued in VENICE in 1582, when he was only fifteen years old.«

***) »L’Orfeo – Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Orfeo
L’Orfeo, sometimes called La favola d’Orfeo [la ˈfaːvola dorˈfɛːo], is a late Renaissance/early Baroque favola in musica, or opera, by Claudio Monteverdi, with a libretto by Alessandro Striggio. It is based on the Greek legend of Orpheus, and tells the story of his descent to Hades and his fruitless attempt to bring his dead bride Eurydice back to the living world. It was written in 1607 for a court performance during the annual Carnival at Mantua. While Jacopo Peri’s Dafne is generally recognised as the first work in the opera genre, and the earliest surviving opera is Peri’s Euridice, L’Orfeo is the earliest that is still regularly performed.«

****) Eurydice – Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurydice
»Eurydice -In Greek mythology, Eurydice; Greek: Εὐρυδίκη, Eurydikē) was an oak nymph or one of the daughters of Apollo. She was the wife of Orpheus, who tried to bring her back from the dead with his enchanting music.«

* * *

Then they reached the big Gondola.
Now they entered the Gondola very ceremonial without saying a word. Palmina’s eyes shined and she smiled lucky.
Inside the Gondola were also Lanterns and a lot of fresh Peony Flowers. In the Gondola were a lot of music score and a…, really a paint brush!
Palmina looked questioning to Palma.
»It is a surprise…« he said very silent to his big love.
As they both sat in the big Gondola with soft seats and curtains.
Palma closed the curtains and knocked 2 times on the Gondola, so that the 31st Gondolier had now the signal to start to move the Gondola to the place of the music-surprise.

Palmina did not know where the Gondola now will drive.

»…this is your birthday surprise for you…«, Palma said to her very silently and Palmina did not hear it.

»Shen me?…scusi, what did you say…«

»Not so loud, Palmina, our Gondolier should not listen what we are talking about… it is a secret…«

Palmina came with her mouth very near to Palma’s ear and whispered to him: »Why is it a secret? Whole Venice seem to know that today is my secret birthday… «
Palmina repeated smiling this sentence and said it more silent and came more and more to Palma’s ear and whispered into it like a little sweet bird. »pss pss, pss pss pss«
Palma smiled about this tender secret communication with her.
He answered also something whispering into her ear, also very tender and she smiled. Both liked this whispering. They made it the whole travel through Venice Laguna.

08 picture - Gaspar_van_Wittel_-_View_of_the_San_Marco_Basin

( 08 picture – Gaspar van Wittel – View of the San Marco Basin )

And they came nearer and nearer to the »music surprise«.
The Gondola was inside en-lighted because of the shining lanterns.
The whole Gondola had the beautiful decent smell like the fresh Peony flowers.
As the big Gondola arrived at the place Palmina could hear through the curtain that a lot of musicians tuned now their instruments very carefully and silently. She heard also that there are a lot of Mandolins tuning there, but they made „tremolo“ like a Pipa-lute.

Palmina stopped whispering into Palma’s ears and listened to the sounds of the music instruments.

»…so much instruments you organised for my birthday music-surprise…?
…Palma, how much musicians are there outside?…«, Palmina asked surprised and smiling. She was really surprised about so much musicians.
»…Palma, what did you do…?«, she said and smiled questioning.

Palma smiled and said nothing.
His lips formed themselves like saying the word »liuto«.

»…Palma?…«

Palma said nothing.

»…Palma?…«

Palmina hit him softly in his side.

»…Palma, how much musicians are there outside??…It sounds like all musicians of Venice are standing there outside on a big place… «

And now the big choir made some short voice exercises.
»..Oh noooo, Palma, so much musicians for my birthday surprise?….«

He whispered into her ears: »Wait here in your Gondola. I will go with a little Gondola to the musicians…
After a while there will be the music-surprise…Then you open the curtains on your right side«.

And he kissed her ear tenderly – the first time in his life.
Palmina was overwhelmed by his tenderness and closed her eyes beginning to dream: She saw all the lanterns and all peony flowers which shined pink in her heart-to-heart-vision and smiled.

* * *

The musicians waited till Palma il Giovane came with the little Gondola to enter the Saint Marco Place. He made a short greeting and ‚thank you‘-gesture to all the musicians.
All Choir singers for the Venice-Titian-Art Gallery, a little Orchestra and also the Choir of Emperor Rudolf II and the 30 Mandolin-Gondoliers was ready to sing and play the „happy birthday surprise“ for Palmina. Palma stood now behind a little easel standing in front of his Orchestra. So he used it to hold the music score and he used his paint brush as bâton.
All musicians looked now to Palma il Giovane.
Now the „Peony Gondoly Song“ will now be performed in a few seconds.
Palma gave now the starting signal and the music started beautifully like that:

Which music will they perform for Palmina’s birthday?

19. First time-less rehearsal of the Lute solo composition for Palmina

Scene Nr. 14. „Drawing a Self-portrait“ of opera „Peony Pavilion“ Mǔdān tíng 牡丹亭, Illustration of Du Liniang drawing her self-portrait, from a Jiuwotang Hall imprint of The Peony Pavilion, Ming dynasty

The next day again, at the Venice-Titian-Art-Gallery, where Palma will continue painting the portraits of the fine Chinese women, Master Lao spoke to the very interested audience about the „Peony Pavilion“, which is a very famous Chinese Opera.

In the Opera, originally named Mǔdān tíng 牡丹亭 , written by Tang Xianzu 湯顯祖 / 汤显祖 (24.9.1550 – 29.7.1616) in 1598, depicts the love-story of Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei. The two loving could only meet secretly in the „Peony Pavillon“, a timeless place where the separation of time, space, and fate does not exist. Their inner-heart strong love overcomes all which stands against this heart-connection. And both can finally came together. *

As Palma** heart that love-story of this authentic heart-to-heart love, he was impressed to hear about Asian-Chinese culture.

* „The Peony Pavilion“ Mǔdān tíng 牡丹亭 , a love story between Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei, „overcomes all difficulties, transcending time and space, life and death, and finally get together“

Tang Xianzu 湯顯祖 / 汤显祖 (1550–1616)
** Palma il Giovanne (1548-1626)

Soon Palma will held here in this Gallery also a Speech about the Psalm 104 and its 8 Nature-Images for the Chinese and European guests.
But which cultural link he should bring about European literature of two loving: „Dante and Beatrice“? „St.Francis and St.Clara?“, „Felix and Aelia?“ (4th century) or „Princess Gogathine and Marco Polo !“ and what Marco Polo wrote in his book and what the Venetian Legends are still telling us about the two loving souls.

Tang Xianzu 湯顯祖 / 汤显祖 (1550–1616), autor of the famous love story „The Peony Pavillion“

He knows only that he has to compose for Palmina 8 Lute Soli, representing the 8 nature-images.

„How can I give her my 8 compositions after I composed it. I have to ask her so much about the Chinese Lute Pipa?“, Palma thought.

We need something like a „Peony Gondola“ similar to the Chinese „Peony Pavilion“, he thought by himself and he prayed inside his heart that their common composing project will not be attacked.
Here are people who understand culture, music, and art and the philosophic of Asia and China, and are interested in European Culture, and the importance of cultural, respectful exchange between Western- and Eastern- Culture Traditions.

And suddenly he heard a voice inside his heart „Today, at 23:00 p.m. the Peony Gondola will pic you both up and you can do your music and exchange the music score…“

Palma smiled and Palmina smiled also…

She was again on her little stage, being ready to play a Lute solo between Master Lao’s speech parts. Palmina is also today looking so beautiful dressed holding her lute.

Palma smiled and looked in Palmina’s direction – Master Lao stands again in their looking-line – where she sat on the right side of the wooden stage.
Palmina suddenly raised her eyes as if she is reacting on something that happened inside her heart. Palmina started to smile very strongly and friendly, then she searched the „secret“ eye-to-eye contact to Palma, which eyes seemed to wait on her secret looking for him.
Both seemed to ask each other with their eyes: „Really?… Did you hear that also?“

Script of Du Liniang Revives For Love

Script of Du Liniang Revives For Love

Master Lao closed his eyes and was silent. Than he nodded straight ahead slowly „Yes“.

And really, after today’s cultural exchange evening event in Venice, with Palmina’s Lute solo and Palma’s portrait drawing they both started to dream at 23:00 p.m.

Palmina plugged: A – d – e – a, sitting in her room.

Palma plugged: c – g – d – a‘, sitting in his little room.

They both looked at the evening sky to the shining stars…

Palma could see Palmina on a white-rose coloured cloud and he was also on a cloud, light-blue-white coloured. Between them from the heaven came a golden-light coloured Gondola slowly down. First the Gondola picked Palmina up, then the golden Gondola came to the Palma’s cloud.

Palma also entered the Gondola and they started to be happy that they can see each other. She had her Pipa and her Venetian Lute. He had his Viola da braccio and a Mandolin.

Palma had a sheet of paper with the first Lute-solo describing the most important nature image of HEAVEN as music-melody-drawing.

Palma said:“I don’t know how the style possibilities for Chinese Lute are… Could you help me and play this composition in Chinese traditional style!“

Palmina smiled and started immediately to rehearsal Palma’s new composition.

She remembered all she learned from the old Masters of the Pipa, which lived also 400 years ago as if it was only a few days ago…

Palmina wrote for him on a little sheet of paper the symbols which are used in Pipa-music notation for „bending up“ and „bending down“ the pitch of a composed note on the Chinese Lute.
(Later Palma will keep this little sheet of paper always on his composition harpsichord to be inspired looking at it for writing more music for Palmina)

She played the first time his first Chinese-style composition.
She smiled and he smiled. Palma was so lucky to hear her playing this first bars of his very little and short composition.

It was like that: VIDEO *** :  https://vimeo.com/260199022

„You played it so wonderfully, with so great expression. I love it!
Thank you, Palmina!“, said Palma.

The interesting thing at this timeless place at this golden Peony Gondola, was that they could talk to each other without using their voice. They could speak to each other as text which symbolize their thoughts.

Palma thought: „If I could repeat her playing in my mind I could compose a 2.Voice to this Pipa-Solo, a Viola-Part. If I compose all 8 Lute Soli I will add a Viola da braccio part to this composition to surprise Palmina with his additionally Viola-part“.

Maybe Palmina will be surprised to hear that 2.Viola-Voice to her Pipa Soli,
maybe she knows that thought already because she can feel his thoughts…
